The Simon Willard Wall Clock, circa 1810, was more commonly called the
“Coffin” or “Poor Man’s” Banjo. The case is simple and plain, having dovetail
sides and a nicely shaped scrolled top with a center brass finial in the form of
a willow branch. Those not able to afford the much more elaborate and expensive
Banjo clocks patented by the Willard families of Massachusetts would have
purchased clocks like this. For the movement, we have chosen to use the more
accurate and simpler quartz movement that has a 21-inch pendulum with a bob that
is visible through the lower glass. Available in Cherry or Curly Maple.
Dimensions are 4.5”D x 9”W x 36.25”H.
