Oxbow Chest #0200
[0200]
$1,455.00

Bartley's Chippendale Oxbow Chest, Massachusetts circa 1770, is considered one of our finest accomplishments. We first made this Chest in 1988 as our celebrated 200th kit. It was copied from an original held by a notable antiques dealer near New Hope, Pennsylvania and held a price tag of $36,500 -- a considerable sum for a chest fourteen years ago! This Chest, sometimes called reverse serpentine, had double ogee feet, a scrolled base, four graduated drawers with blocked ends and beaded edges, and a top which follows the contour of the drawer fronts. In the 18th Century, oxbow chests were only made by the most skilled artisan because of the difficulty in cutting the serpentine shapes. They were often used in pairs for the focal point of a dining or living room but are equally appropriate in entry halls or bedrooms. Compared to other oxbow chests on the market, our quality is difficult to match, our price an incredible value! Available in two woods, Curly Maple or Walnut. Measures 38 1/4"W x 31 3/4"H x 24 1/4"D.

NOTE: Any kit we offer that is $1000 or more will require a 30% deposit at the time of scheduling. This deposit is fully refundable until we begin cutting the kit. (If a kit has already been scheduled we will require the 30% deposit at the time of order. What this means is that if we do not have a tentative ship date we will not charge the deposit.) At the time we begin cutting the kit we will require an additional 30% deposit. At this time both deposits are non-refundable. You will not be charged for the balance of payment until your kit is ready to ship.
