Octagonal Bedposts, today more commonly called "Pencil Posts" were perhaps the most common type used with 18th century New England Bedsteads.

The original of our bed comes from New Hampshire, circa 1760-1780. The design is timeless in appeal and it is our most popular bed for dads to make as a wedding gift for his son or daughter. The Pencil Post bed is plain and simple, yet very elegant especially when covered with antique linens or quilts. The slender tapered pencil posts house the country New England headboard, and a tester can hang your favorite covering or netting. Height of the headboard is 37 inches. The sides and back rail are Poplar with the end rail primary wood. Shown in Curly Maple, it is also available in solid Cherry. Queen bed size is 83"H x 66"W x 87"D.

NOTE: Any kit we offer that is $1000 or more will require a 30% deposit at the time of scheduling. This deposit is fully refundable until we begin cutting the kit. (If a kit has already been scheduled we will require the 30% deposit at the time of order. What this means is that if we do not have a tentative ship date we will not charge the deposit.) At the time we begin cutting the kit we will require an additional 30% deposit. At this time both deposits are non-refundable. You will not be charged for the balance of payment until your kit is ready to ship.
